HEATHER HOLMES CANDIDATE FOR OAK BAY COUNCIL: http://www.heatherholmesoakbay.ca/

Deer – Decision Required

It’s time to take immediate action on this emotionally charged issue!

We require strong leadership to make the difficult decisions.

I’m certain we all agree there are rising concerns within Oak Bay regarding the growing number of urban deer in our neighbourhoods.

This increase is creating issues with traffic safety and damage to properties, together with aggressiveness to humans and pets.

The deer population and ability to deal with the problem vary within each community.

Oak Bay must lead the way with a detailed deer community management plan that includes surveying residents, population estimates and examining the possibility of a limited cull.

I also advocate working together with the CRD to continue its overall population reduction strategy across the region.
